Gate Opener Michigan

What can be done???

First off, i live in Michigan, a week ago my husband was sitting at a traffic light when this Tree Service truck went around the corner only to have their back Gate on the truck come open and hit my car knocking out my back windshield tottaly. He got them to stop and showed them the damage. My husband and they did not have a phone to call the cops to make a report. So my husband took down the guys boss’s information, truck number and they the drivers were talking on cb to the boss.They assured my husband (the boss) on the cb that they did not want it reported and they would pay for it. My husband took him on his word and went straight to get an estimate on the car. After that he called the boss and told him the cost and where. Now this is just the cost of windshield no more. By monday we have called this guy and he does not return phone calls. The next day I finannly get ahold of the boss above the boss who laughs basically and says that they will not pay.Can anything be done??

Since Michigan is a no fault state, Call your insurance company, they would have to pay anyhow. Then you have the option of Civil action to recover any monetary loss, call a lawyer.

Its not a hit and run cause your husband chose not to file a report. At my department if someone comes to us with this story we need both vehicles and both drivers present to do a report.
